What is the purpose of shadowing?
It allows individuals to view processes they are involved in from a different angle. Job shadowing provides the individual with a unique opportunity to find out how other staff work and what their roles involve. It develops a deeper knowledge and understanding of other roles and functions within the University.
What to expect from shadowing a doctor?
You observe how the doctor interacts with patients, performs procedures, converses with his coworkers, and even how he spends his lunchtime. You are not expected to do much, especially since you know very little about medicine. There is an incredible amount of variability in shadowing.
